Abstract:

HYDROGEN IS CONSIDERED AS A POTENTIAL FUEL FOR THE FUTURE. HYDROGEN Storage IS THE KEY TECHNOLOGY TOWARDS THE HYDROGEN SOCIETY. ONBOARD Storage IS THE CRITICAL ISSUE WITH REGARD TO HYDROGEN’S UTILITY AS AN ENERGY CARRIER FOR ANY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION ON LAND, SEA OR AIR. NOWADAYS WE NEED FOR THE ON-BOARD FUEL SYSTEM Storage SINCE HYDROGEN EXHIBITS A RATHER LOW VOLUMETRIC ENERGY DENSITY (REGARDLESS WHETHER IT IS STORED AS A LIQUID AT CRYOGENIC TEMPERATURES OR AS A COMPRESSED GAS). IN MOST CONVENTIONAL ANALYSIS FOR DESIGN OF HYDROGEN Storage SYSTEMS THE GRAVIMETRIC AND VOLUMETRIC Storage DENSITIES ARE USED. THE STUDIES WERE PERFORMED ON PROCESSES AIMED AT REACHING THE VOLUMETRIC CAPACITIES AND GRAVIMETRIC Storage DENSITIES RECOMMENDED BY THE US DOE, I.E., 45 KG/M3 AND 6 WEIGHT PERCENT, FOR THE YEAR 2010. COMPRESSED HYDROGEN FUEL TANK OPERATES UNDER HIGH (5000-10000PSI) PRESSURE, SO THESE TANKS SHOULD HAVE SPECIAL STRUCTURE TO BE SUITABLE FOR FUEL CELL VEHICLES. THIS PAPER EXPLAINS THE CURRENT STATUS AND CHALLENGES OF CONVENTIONAL technologies FOR THE HYDROGEN Storage BY TANKS AND ALSO DISCUSSES ABOUT THE HYDROGEN TANKS STRUCTURE.

Abstract:

In the recent days, the main challenge for the electrical power system is an economical Storage technology. Energy Storage is essential for the future Smart Grid (SG) to smooth out the fluctuating output of Renewable Energy Resources (RERs). Even though many good Storage technologies are available but either they are not economical or they are not efficient. Several research studies are analyzed the application of energy Storage with respect to voltage support, peak shaving, frequency stability, renewable firming, transmission upgrade deferral, and a host of other uses. RERs are dependent on the climate conditions for the power output. Therefore, an efficient Storage technology is an important part for the reliability of electric power system. This paper compares different Storage technologies available, i. e. hydrogen Storage, batteries, superconducting magnet energy Storage, fly wheels, compressed air energy Storage, pumped hydro energy Storage, etc. This paper details the necessity of Storage techniques to help the RERs power output in the SG to meet the energy demands of the future.

Abstract:

One of the main factors in designing drones and submarines is the appropriate choice of an electrical energy Storage device as the energy source of their propulsion systems. This review paper addresses the energy Storage technologies, whether battery or fuel cell, applicable in drone and submarine industries. Batteries are widely used in drones due to their lower weight and occupation space and can act as a primary or secondary power supply. Among various chemical compounds, lithium-ion and lithium polymer batteries are the most common battery technologies with a higher energy density. Although the energy density of fuel cells is much higher than that of batteries and increases flight endurance and altitude, they are not yet common in the drone industry due to the high price and volume. This feature of fuel cells has led to their usage as an energy source in the air-independent propulsion technology of submarines. Also, extreme temperature variations for drones can reduce the efficiency and lifetime of batteries and even fuel cells. Battery insulation is provided for temperature drop due to an increase in altitude, and heat management systems are provided for temperature increase due to high current flow.

Abstract:

This study presents modeling and simulation of a stand-alone hybrid energy system for a base transceiverstation (BTS). The system is consisted of a wind and turbine photovoltaic (PV) panels as renewableresources, and also batteries to store excess energy in order to boost the system reliability. Two differenttypes of batteries are considered for Storage purposes; lead-acid and vanadium redox-flow batteries (VRB)batteries. Most stand-alone energy systems for various applications take advantage of at least a singleStorage technology, generally lead-acid batteries. However, with recent advances in different batterytechnologies, vanadium redox-flow batteries could be taken into account as reliable candidate. Thevanadium redox-flow battery has a desirable prospect due to its extended life span and also the potentialfor separating and scaling up involved nominal power and nominal energy. The system is modelled andsimulated hourly (quasi-dynamically) in Matlab for an operational year. The model utilizes insolation, wind speed and air temperature data. The system performance has been assessed with a mobile telephoneBase Transceiver Stations (BTS) as the case study. Simulations results have shown that the suggestedmodel can be used to study the effect of the altering weather conditions on each charge/discharge cyclesand batteries voltage. Finally the proposed model yields the optimal battery network design for a varietyof applications.

Abstract:

Nowadays, optimal integration and utilization of renewable energy sources (RES) are of the most challenging issues in power systems. The wind and solar generation units' maximum production may or may not occur at peak consumption times resulting in non-optimal utilization of these resources. As a solution to this problem, energy Storage systems (ESS) are embedded in networks. However, the power transfer from RES to ESS may lead to network congestion. In this paper, the simultaneous application of dynamic thermal rating (DTR) technology and ESS devices is proposed. The DTR is used to overcome the problem of transmission lines limited capacity and ESS is responsible for mitigating curtailment of RESs energy production by saving their generated energy in non-peak hours. The RESs generation and lines’ ratings are calculated based on hourly actual weather elements. For evaluating the proposed method, a linearized formulation of DC-OPF is used in the problem definition and also simulated on a modified IEEE 30-bus test system including a wind farm, solar park, and ESS devices by using MATLAB software. In addition, different comparisons are performed demonstrating the remarkable and better performance of the proposed method compared to previously introduced methods.

Abstract:

Purpose: This article proposes an optimal model based on expert opinions by modeling variance-based structural equations.Method: A Delphi panel and quantitative confirmatory factor analysis were utilized  Data collecting tool was  questionnaire. Twelve specialists in the field of application of Semantic Web technologies participated in the study. Variance-based structural equations and partial least squares modeling were carried out for data analysis using Smart PLS softwareFindings: Conceptual model of usability of semantic web technologies in library information Storage and retrieval systems indicated semantic web technologies could be employed for four acquisition, organizing, OPAC, and user profile sections. The test of the conceptual model was run in three steps by estimating the goodness-of-fit indexes for the measurement model, the structural model, and the overall model. In fitting the measurement model, analysis of the factor loads for the items of each component showed that one item of the organization component and one item of the OPAC component with a factor load of less than 0.4 were removed. The result of confirmatory factor analysis confirmed 18 items out of 20 in the questionnaire.  Cronbach's alpha reliability and combined reliability ensured the reliability of the questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha values and the combined reliability were equal to and higher than 0.7, confirming the optimal reliability of the questionnaire. Significant relationships  were noticed between the following: 1) ontology+ SKOS + linked data and organization, acquisition, and OPAC components to perform activities such as organizing and managing knowledge, 2) links between metadata; links between related resources, 3) conversion of bibliographic information to RDF format, 4) dissemination and sharing of data, 5) user-friendly interfaces< 6) lexical control, 7) user query expansion. Meaningful ranking of search results according to user information needs and significant relationships between FOAF + linked data in the OPAC components confirmed the optimal fit of the structural model.  Overall fit of the model to control the measurement model and the structural model was equal to 0.64, which shows that the fit of the overall model has a very high strength. Conclusion: Paying attention to the incorporating of Semantic Web technologies in the library information Storage and retrieval system leads to the selection, Storage, organization, and semantic retrieval of information. It creates a semantic connection and interaction between the user and the library system. As such, it provides a semantic response to the user’s information needs. The acceptable goodness-of-fit of the proposed model confirmed the semanticization of library systems and probability of using capabilities of semantic web technologies.
